ORISSA
History
Orissa was a part of West Bengal
AICUF, in the 70s participating in the activities of the region. It was with the
new AICUF constitution of 1989, Orissa gained the status of new AICUF State with
the guidance of Fr. T.K. Kurien shouldering responsibilities. Since then new
units were formed in the State in various colleges and in towns and in Parishes.
1989
Birth of Orissa AICUF State as a
separate region from West Bengal and Burdwan. Initial stages were devoted for
establishing AICUF units with the student centrality.

1991
1st-7th February,
Social Work cum Leadership Training Camp, heldat Sambalpur. 35students of AICUF
from different units along with a few advisers took part in the camp. During the
programme, they repaired 7 houses of the poor families.
9th February, The
State President Mr.Pradeep Kundo was killed in the college campus. Since then
this day is commemorated as “AICUF Day” in Orissa, Pradeep Kindo was an
upcoming tribal boy with all the leadership qualities, whose presence,
sincerity, hard-work, challenged the non-tribals, who went to the extent of
killing him. To this day a Hockey Torunament is organized in this college at
Sundargarh every year. Pradeep became a Martyr for AICUF in Orissa.

1998
On 7th May, An Inter-State Adviser,
Animator Training Programme in Jharsuguda, was conducted
Prof. Bernard D’ Sami, Ms. Vani, Fr. Pratap Toppo etc., were the facilitators
of the programme.
“As we look back to past decade we feel much less has been achieved and
much is yet to be done. Committed animators and students who can spearhead the
movement is the need of the hour. We still group with some inherent problems and
thus both students and the supportive groups need to review the reality and take
measures for better and bright future of the
movement.”
