History
Runner to AICUF was ‘The Malabar Catholic
Youth League’ founded in 1915 in 1915 by Fr. D. Honore, s.j. in the west coast. In 1929 the Malabar Catholic League merged with
CYMG to form CYMF, AICUF’s intervention on issues has made a tremendous impact
on the Kerala socio-religious and political milieu. Eminent persons like Frs.
Samuel Rayan, Joseph Kizhakkedam, Sebastian Painadath, Joseph Kottukapally, Paul
Valiakandathil, Dominic Gomez and Joe James guided the activities of AICUF
effectively throughout the years.
1946
On 13th October,
AICUF unit of the St. Albert’s Ernakulam was affiliated by Fr. Carty to the
South India Catholic University Federation and to the ‘Pax Romana’.

1989
19th – 22nd,
August, Leadership-cum-Training Camp, held at St. Joseph’s Boys High School,
Calicut.
State Convention held at
Chaithaya Pastoral Center, Kottayam. More than 100 students, full-timers and
advisers from 5 regions of Kerala attended.
Theme: ‘A historical Analysis
of Dalit Christian Issues’.
Kerala AICUF has two regions –
South Kerala and North Kerala. South Kerala further divided into four zones –
Trivandrum, Kollam, Alapuzha and Ernakulam. North Kerkala region also divided
into four zones – Trichur, Irinjalakuda, Palakkad and Kozhikode with 42 units
and in the state, of which 22 are college units and the rest are local units.

students, doing an academic course lasting at least one year and approved by the

Kerala AICUF and other
Organisation
“AICUF had a friendly relationship with many youth organization like
the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), Jesus Youth etc. AICUF supports the
“struggle of the oppressed’ conducted by the organizations like Programme
for Community Organisation (PCO),
Fishermen Development Society (FIDES) and the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad,
which studies the Economic, socio-cultural dimension of Kerala in a scientific
way. AICUF co-operates with all these organizations in their work for a just
society”.
