History

The All Gujarat Students Development Movement (AGSDM) began in the year 1986. It was granted affiliation to AICUF in 1990. During the 17 years of its history the movement has grown leaps and bounds despite the ups and downs it has experienced among the students. The goal of the AGSDM is two fold: self confidence, personality development as individuals and to unite, become aware and to be conscientised as a student community. This movement is primarily for the student and belongs to them. It guides students to enhance their potentialities in different fields and to foster their careers. It prepares the students to face the challenges such as unemployment, the ills of self financed education, fee hike, delayed results, problems in obtaining scholarships, copying in the exams, lack of creativity. Casteism, language problem, inferiority complex, alcoholism, suicides, etc. Struggling with all these difficulties, the student loses his/her self confidence, gets frustrated and goes astray.

The AGSDM is making an effort in this direction to lighten the burden on the shoulders of the students. The members of the AGSDM meet once a year (Congress), to elect/select its State Exco.

The State Congress is held once a year. All the members of the Movement, and well-wishers are invited. New office bearers are chosen. The State Annual Report is presented. Different units are given a chance to host the event.
