ANDHRA PRADESH
1959
The journey of AICUF
began on 19th July, with the Inaugural Meeting of (CSU) held at
Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada.
1962
leadership camps and
seminars were conducted.
1974
On 13th
October, Secundrabad Region, “Know Yourself”, a one day seminar was held at
Secunderabad and 35 members participated, with special focus on
‘Transactional Analysis’.
On 17th
November, Andhra Advisers Meet, held at Andhra Loyola College. Advisers from
Tenali, Nallapadu,
Guntur,
Eluru and Vijayawada participated in the session.

1976
7-8th May,
Girls’ Camp, Karimnagar, 175 km from Secunderabad. The aim of the camp was
to acquaint the students with the actual rural problems.
1981
1st-2nd
February, Leadership Camp was held at Andhra Loyola College. The theme of
the camp was ‘Morality and Psychology’. More than 50 students from 3 units
of JMJ, Maris Stella and
Andhra
Loyola
College participated.
1989
On 12th August, AICUFers took
part actively in a public meeting held at
Guntur
to condemn the repressive action of the university management against a
lecturer of law, Mr. Subramaniyam. They distributed handbills and staged a
street play on the issue.
In October, Andhra AICUF organised 1000
women students from the college hostels to protest against the rape of a
Tenali college student.

1990
Conflict with the local
Church led to the banning of AICUF in Andhra.
1991
It was felt that there
was a need for reviving AICUF as a separate students movement for Dalit
students when 8 dalits were massacred at Tsundur, Tenali. As a result of
that a small group called Student Organisation for Social Action (SOSA) was
launched to work for the rights of the Dalits and Women.
1995
Cycle rally and hunger
strike demanding reservation for Dalit Christians.
1996
1st state
convention in Andhra Pradesh.

1998
AICUF was revived once again by the APBC.
After this process there is a new set of Aims and
Objectives which is:

Faith formation and preparing students for the society.
§
Imbibe a critical conciseness about the society.
§
Exposing students to the struggles of the poor and
oppressed.
§
Prepare students for their rightful role in the church and
society
With these aims and objectives now there are a lot of
regular
activities going on in the State.

Mainly focusing on establishing and
reviving units.
